Principal's message

It is with immense pleasure that I welcome you to our prestigious school.

In deciding to have your child educated at Our Lady Queen of the Missions School – Saltlake, you have chosen to help your child enter into a distinguished institution with a proud and rich heritage. It is imperative to state that as parents, you are your child’s first and most influential teacher.

Based on the standards set by Euphraise Barbier our Foundress, we commit ourselves to impart value based education. Here in Our Lady Queen of the Missions school, we provide a holistic and balanced education based on sound intellectual, physical, moral and social formation. We provide a safe, happy, secure and intellectually challenging environment that will empower students to become innovative thinkers, creative problem solvers and inspired learners prepared to thrive in the twenty-first century.

High standards and expectations for each student in regard to academic performance, co-curricular participation and responsible citizenship are the foundation of our school. It is with pride that we hold these high standards and encourage each of our students to commit to maintaining the extraordinary record of achievement and contribution that has been the legacy of QMS students. As they grow towards human maturity they are enabled with the help of the Divine Spirit, support of the school and care of the parents to find meaning and purpose in their lives.

Our excellent state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities with dedicated teachers enables us to provide an environment that is very important for our students to excel. Student progress and achievement are monitored very closely by each teacher at all times. We pride ourselves on knowing our students well, understanding that the relationships between teachers and students are foundational in developing confident and successful learners.

At QMS our students are taught how to care and support each other, as well as to respect everyone’s individual differences. The focus of our social skilling is teaching our children how to get along, how to be persistent and be confident, as well as how to be organised and resilient. It is essential that all our students and staff come to school every day happy and ready to give their best.

Dear Students, we want you to remember that we are all here to serve you and that we have complete faith in your abilities and future. Welcome once again, to Our Lady Queen of the Missions.

As principal, it is important for me that my teachers, parents and students become partners in this journey that we have embarked upon. An outstanding feature of the school has always been the very strong sense of community that prevails. Teachers and parents share a joint responsibility for helping each child develop her talents and abilities and consequently strong partnerships are forged between the home and school environments. Parental involvement in all facets of the school is always welcomed and valued. Communication between home and school is critical for the student’s academic success. We learn a lot about the needs of our students through the partnership between home and school, therefore we encourage parents to participate in their daughter’s learning at every opportunity.

A positive attitude will enable us to provide a holistic nurturing environment therefore I look forward to working together with all of you to do what is best for the school and all of the students.
